The other wing (the left one)

Starting to cover the last piece of the aircraft: the left wings. Here are some pictures. The leading edge is covered with Poly-Fiber polyester padding.

The Taylorcaft uses wire clips (aka Martin Clips or Taylorcraft wire or fabric retainer wire) to secure the fabric to the ribs. There is a discussion on the Taylorcraft forum (https://vb.taylorcraft.org/forum/taylorcraft/everyday-taylorcraft-discussion/2664-martin-fabric-clip-question) in which direction to install the wire. Since I am covering the wing with Poly-Fiber I need to comply with the STC and therefore the Poly-Fiber manual (https://www.conaircraft.com/download-manuals) that on Revision 21 at page pg. 43 has the following picture.

This seems also to be the consensus on the Taylorcraft forum: “… I always followed the Taylorcraft Manual, you install from rear to front like they do at the factory, barb to the front…”

The last aspect is the clip spacing. The Poly-Fiber manual has a chart (Revision 21: pg. 31) that: “is also in the FAA’s AC43.13,”. The chart shows that the spacing of 3 inches (on the original Taylorcraft wire) is sufficient for the ribs not in the propeller slipstream. On these ribs, I installed a single wire.

For the rib in the propeller slipstream, the solution s to install two staggered wires so that the clip distance is 1.5 inches.
